Mercedes Benz's "Aesthetic No.2"

Sometime a blurry images is more  inspiring than a razor sharp crystal clear image, imaging a hazy image of a lady contour under dimmed light which leaves us an impression of an artful romance compares to an explicit hardcore material.

The Mercedes Benz designers are pushing the limits of automotive design by embracing sculptural experimentation over the tradition process. It permeates every aspect of thier design process, from collaborative sketches to workgroups. The resulting culpture titled "Aesthetics No.2" is stuning - deceptively complex and being ingeniously organic . It is the proud culmination of a project that aims  to look at what  the future holds for the interior space of Mercedes vehicles.

Firstly unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show 2011, Mercedes-Benz Aesthetics No.2 sculpture is this idea made visible. It consciously defies the shackles of the limited context of ergonomics, technical feasibility, formal constraints and, not least, the exterior of the vehicle, in order to impress the observer with its pure sensory-aesthetic appeal, In addition, the sculpture offers a preview of the clear-cut yet emotionally-appealing sculptural form language in the Mercedes-Benz interior design of the future. At the same time it is able to transport the high aesthetic, functional and sensuous aspirations characteristic of a Mercedes-Benz interior, bridging the gap between art and the aesthetics of Mercedes-Benz interior design. It comples the observer to pause for a moment, and challenges, interprets anew that which is already familiar in the vehicle interior, touching both the senses and rational reflection in doing so.

Aesthetics No.2 is a loopy frame of arcs and pads, inspired by forms of microscopic diatoms, Calla lily blossoms, Boeing 747 wings and future-blended airliner concepts. Measuring 5.6m. x 1.83m. x 2.6 m. scaled 1.5:1, the sculpture was touched up with an 'Alubeam Liquid Metal' Paint finish to simulate the unobtrusive, free-following fesign of the sculpture, the piece sums up Mercedes-Benz's "ambiebt aesthetics" ideas, in which nature lends inspiration. It is a piece of thah old dream of designers to be free from functional requirements of air bags os screens. The frame was inspired by the structure of the diatom, as well as by the moving forms of sharks and manta rays. A part of the frame sweeps through the structure as a center console. White shapes, while the wing-like shape of the dash connects nature with the machine, through aviation. The piece's multijets, which look like oversize chrome ventilation blowers on a dashboard, have a futurist appeal. The sculpture is also symmetrical to emphasize the harmony between driver and passenger.

The beauty is in the eye of beholder, the Aesthetics No.2 leaves us an open ended canvas for personal future interpretation and imagination and also questioning us "What do you see in them?"
